What it actually is
Between the lashes, not above them
Pigment is placed into the tiny gaps between your lash roots. The effect is a darker, denser lash line — your lashes look fuller rather than your eyes looking lined.
The Korean approach favours soft shading over hard graphic lines, which is why it works so well on monolids and hooded eyes where a drawn wing disappears into the fold.
It doesn't smudge, run, or need redoing when you cry, swim or sleep badly. For anyone who has ever fought with liquid liner on an uneven eyelid, that's most of the appeal.
Styles
How much definition?
We'll recommend based on your eye shape and lid fold, not on a photo of someone with different eyes.
Lash line enhancement
A fine line placed close to the lash roots for subtle definition. The aim is to make the lash line look fuller without creating a heavy eyeliner effect.
May suit: first-timers, monolids, hooded eyes, and anyone in a workplace where obvious makeup isn't the look.
Soft shaded liner
A slightly thicker, softly diffused line. Visible as definition but with no hard edge.
May suit: clients who currently wear a thin liner daily and want to stop.
Defined wing
A tail extending beyond the outer corner. The most makeup-like option.
Worth thinking about: wings date. A shape that suits now may not in three years, and this lasts up to two. We'll talk you through it honestly.
Lower lash line
A very fine line along the lower lash roots to balance the top.
Used sparingly. Heavy lower liner closes the eye rather than opening it, and it ages less well than upper work.

This technique can work well for monolids and hooded eyes because the pigment is placed within the lash line rather than relying on a visible eyelid fold.

Lash extensions genuinely have to come off before we can work. Book a removal in the same appointment, and plan to be without extensions for a couple of weeks while the liner heals.
On the day
What actually happens
An hour to ninety minutes. Your eyes are closed throughout and nothing touches the eyeball.
Consultation & shape
We look at your eye shape, lid fold and lash density, then agree how much definition you want. This is where we'll gently talk you out of a wing if we think you'll regret it.
Mapping & your approval
The line is drawn on first and you check it in the mirror with your eyes open. Nothing permanent starts until you approve it.
Numbing, then pigment
Numbing is applied and topped up. Pigment is worked between the lash roots in fine passes. Watering is normal and doesn't affect the result.
Aftercare briefing
We brief you on swelling, flaking and what to avoid before you leave. Message us on WhatsApp if anything concerns you.

Before, during and after
Everything you'd want to know, tucked away so it's here when you need it and out of the way when you don't.
Before your appointment
- Please remove any lash extensions first. They must be off — book a removal in the same appointment if needed.
- Please do not wear contact lenses on the day. Please bring your glasses, and plan to avoid contact lenses for 24–48 hours afterwards.
- No lash tint or lash lift within 2 weeks beforehand
- No eye makeup on the day
- No alcohol for 24 hours; no caffeine that morning — both increase watering and swelling
- Avoid blood thinners for 48 hours unless prescribed
- Arrange your own transport home if you can. Vision is fine, but eyes are often puffy and watery for a few hours.
Aftercare
First 24–48 hours
- Keep the area dry. Wash your face around the eyes, not over them.
- No contact lenses
- Cool compress (not ice directly) helps swelling on day one
- Sleep on your back with your head slightly raised — it noticeably reduces morning puffiness
Days 2–10
- Apply the ointment we give you very thinly, twice a day. Very thinly — this area needs less than brows.
- Do not pick or rub. Flakes will come away on their own.
- No eye makeup, mascara or makeup remover
- No swimming, sauna, steam or heavy sweating
- No lash extensions, tint or lift for at least 2 weeks
- Avoid direct sun; sunglasses help
Long term
Once healed, everything returns to normal. Sunscreen around the eye area extends longevity, and eye creams with retinol will fade it faster.
Healing timeline
- Day 1 — swollenMild to moderate swelling, sometimes more on one side. Eyes may water. The line looks much heavier than it will be.
- Days 2–3 — darkestSwelling settles. Pigment looks its most intense.
- Days 3–7 — flakingFine flakes come away, often first thing in the morning. Do not help them.
- Days 7–14 — lighterLooks softer, sometimes patchy. Normal.
- Days 14–30 — settledColour evens out and softens into its final form.
- Days 30–45 — healedYour healed result, and the point to assess whether you want a touch-up for more density.
Eyeliner heals lighter than it looks on day one, though less dramatically than lips. A touch-up at six to eight weeks is common if you want a denser line.
Safety, terms and medical notes
Working near the eye
Nothing touches the eyeball. Pigment goes into the lash line only, and we work with the lid supported and your eye closed. Watering during the procedure is normal and doesn't affect the outcome.
Please don't book if you
- Have any active eye infection, stye or blepharitis
- Have had eye surgery, LASIK or a lid lift in the last 6 months
- Have glaucoma or significant dry eye
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have an autoimmune condition, diabetes, or are undergoing chemotherapy

Existing eyeliner tattooing
Send a clear daylight photo before booking. Old work that has migrated, blurred or turned blue is difficult to correct in this area, and we may need to decline so that it is not made worse.

Common questions
The things clients ask most
Is it safe to do this so close to my eye?
The treatment is performed with the eye closed and the eyelid supported while pigment is placed along the lash line. Because the eye area requires careful technique, suitability is assessed before treatment and the PMU course covers the relevant safety considerations in detail.
Does it hurt?
Less than most people expect. Numbing is applied and topped up. The lash line is more sensitive than the brow but the appointment is shorter. Watering is normal and isn't a sign of pain.
Will it look like heavy eyeliner?
Not unless you ask for it. The most-requested result is a fine line at the roots that reads as thicker lashes. We'll show you the shape drawn on before anything permanent happens.
Will it work with monolids or hooded eyes?
This technique can suit monolids and hooded eyes because it sits within the lash line rather than above it, helping the definition remain visible even when the eyelid fold is less exposed.
Can I have lash extensions with it?
Not at the same time. Extensions must be removed before treatment and you'll need to stay without them for about two weeks while the liner heals. After that, extensions are fine and the two look excellent together.
What about contact lenses?
Please do not wear contact lenses on the day, and ideally avoid them for 24–48 hours afterwards. Please bring your glasses with you.
Will my eyes be swollen?
Mildly, on day one, sometimes more on one side. It settles within two to three days. Sleeping with your head slightly raised helps noticeably.
Should I get a wing?
We'll discuss the shape carefully before the treatment. A wing is a more defined style and may last for a long time, so a subtle lash-line enhancement can be a practical option if you prefer something more understated.

Eyeliner embroidery requires careful training because the treatment area is delicate. Our full PMU programme covers consultation, pre-draw, technique, safety, healing and supervised post-course practice.
